Now this is an example of inspired casting: Audrey Tautou, the modern-day gamine who charmed audiences as Amelie, portrayed the early years of quintessential fashion icon Coco Chanel in the forthcoming biopic Coco Before Chanel. Like Coco, Audrey is very pretty, very chic, and very, very French. What’s not to love???
The movie is about the story of Coco Chanel’s rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world. Coco was very original , passionate , beautiful , exceptionally talented …. a true pioneer…
Without a doubt the clothes here are the star of the show, from the fashions of societal norms in both directions of the rich-poor spectrum, to Coco Chanel’s designs for her own with her menswear inspired pieces, and unfortunately, the glamour-chic pieces only making it through in a parting shot at the finale, since the founding of the business empire was grossly passed over deliberately. The opulently designed clothes of that era stand in stark contrast to the Chanel pieces, which celebrates sheer beauty and elegance in their simplicity, and probably from there, stamping its mark on the fashion industry.
On June 12, after a day of Twitter speculation, high street clothing chain H&M announced that it will be collaborating with label Maison Martin Margiela for one collection.
The collection with the avant-garde Paris-based fashion label of Belgian origin marks a continuation in H&M’s long line of high-profile collaborations, past participants of which have included Karl Lagerfeld and Marni.
In a statement on H&M’s site the Paris based label said “We are very happy to present MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the centre of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all.”
The H&M/Maison Martin Margiela range will be available at 230 H&M stores around the world and via H&M’s online store on November 15!!!
If you want to take a peek at the collection 2 videos have been released showing the sketching of only one woman’s & one man’s piece… It really didn’t satisfy my curiosity at all!!!!
These are some of the pieces of the Premiere collection a/w2012 by Maison Martin Margiela and I certainly hope that the Martin Margiela for H&M collection will look exactlly like that!!!! 😛
