Maison Martin Margiela is the latest luxury label to team up with H&Mto create a one-off collection, according to market sources. The Swedish high street chain is yet to confirm the reports.
“We never comment on rumours,” an H&M Spokesperson told WWD.
,Meanwhile we can only imagine what this collaboration is going to look like.
Margiela s/s 2012
I leave it to your imagination!!!
The conceptual fashion house, known for its deconstructed pieces and provocative collections, is renowned in the industry for its exclusivity. Gabriele Hackworthy, fashion director at Bazaar, commented, “It is a surprising collaboration. Historically, Margiela has cultivated a mythic quality to their brand. They’ve never advertised or aspired to communicate in a mass-market way. Mr. Margiela had always remained allusive. Teaming with H&M shows they want to raise public awareness to the house, and that’s a big step for the label.”
And what should we expect? “Minimal, tailored designs like the main-line,” our fashion director predicts. “Androgyny, white shirts and denim I think. Definitely denim.” And all for a bargain price of $49.99 we imagine.
These are some Margiela looks so that we’ll have an idea what to expect!!!
This will not be the first time the Swedish retail giant has linked with luxury labels. Recently their collaboration with Italian fashion house Marni saw queues outside the store forming overnight, similar excitement surrounded H&M collections with Versace and Lanvin.
